Flood Recovery Office of Marion

The flood recovery effort continues for the catastrophic flood of 2008 in the Cedar Rapids / Iowa City and surrounding areas. First United Methodist Church of Marion has accepted the role of central point of contact for the flood recovery effort. They are dedicated to this role and will continue until the job is finished.

The Flood Recovery Office is in need of donations such as:
  • COOKIES for team members (375 volunteers were here last week)
  • Paint brushes / roller pads
  • Screw bits
  • Pencils
  • Frozen meals for teams of 20 that come in late at night
  • Cleaning of the shower trailers
  • Funding for materials
  • Primer paint
  • Drywall tape (paper and mesh)
  • Prayer - for the safety of the teams as they handle power equipment, mold issues, heat, weather problems, travel, and grumpiness
  • Homeowners to have hope. Many people are depressed, many are hurting, many need Jesus.
  • Creativity in solving delays and difficult situations
  • Loving spirits
The flood interns are blogging and what delightful blogs they are writing. Be sure to check out this site.
