Rick and Bubba’s “Guide to the Almost Nearly Perfect Marriage” is written in the fashion implied by the title. They have their own radio show and one can only assume their “wisdom” of the trials and tribulations of marriage come through on their program as well as in this book.
It was a fun book to read. I was looking for more substance than I found, but based on the book’s title, I think that is to be expected. If you read closely, however, there are some good tips that they share with the reader, interspersed with a lot of comedy. Their Top 10 Tips at the end of various sections lend a lot of humor to their efforts. As I read this book, it occurred to me that their wives apparently have a great sense of humor in order to put up with Rick & Bubba’s antics.
This book would make a great gift for newlyweds or engaged couples, as well as to those who have been married for a few years. A supplemental CD is also included in the back of the book that sheds even more humor and is an added plus for those who like audio books.
